What is Solution Focused Therapy?

Solution Focused therapy is future focused and goal orientated. It centres around searching for solutions rather than focusing and dwelling on the problems.

The solution focused model does look at the initial problem briefly, but only to gain some understanding of it and its impact. But, beyond gaining an understanding of the problem and how to address it, solution focused therapy will not dwell on every detail of it, unlike other therapies.


This type of therapy does not require a deep dive into your childhood. Instead it roots itself in the present , working towards a future, which is no longer influenced or impacted by your past.

Solution Focused Therapy is very quick and effective, so much so, that it is often referred to as SFBT (Solution focused brief therapy). This obviously minimises the time spent with a therapist, but more importantly, limits the length of suffering.
